Let's talk about the band. Anything that's on your mind.

I feel like they're not going to last that much longer

They probably won't break up or anything but I sure believe the hiatus (yes, I call it hiatus even if they insist on calling it pause) will be for long. They just don't seem ready at all to write new music for GC or tour with GC.
It's really sad and I wish they could do something special every now and then, maybe a video or something where they talk about Good Charlotte and explain a bit what's going on.
Let's hope they have something special for October and the 10 years anniversary for TYATH.

But I guess this is what happens to most bands after they release an album. I remember Simple Plan for an example, they were "dead" for like 2 years after their 2008 release.
They will be back!

Well Paul said they would start writing music next year but it seems like they've just moved on to their own things

Exactly. I feel like maybe they haven't got enough inspiration or material to make songs that fit in Good Charlotte since they can't make music for GC outside the poppunk genre.

I think Paul was telling the truth and they will start writing next year but for now they're having a much deserved break. They all have families now and Billy and Paul both have babies on the way (congrats to them) so they are focusing on their families. As for side projects they just want to explore other music being the creative people they are. As Tito said they are kind of restricted to pop punk when it comes to GC and they want to experiment. I'd rather them work on side projects instead of completely changing Good Charlotte's sound. I don't think Good Charlotte will stop any time soon. I'm going to their Sydney show next month so it's not like they aren't still doing GC work while they're on their break.

Ah, you guys have to record stuff from show next month! It's the first show in almost a year if I remember it right? They did some russian festival in October and that was the last EU show.. then there was the weezer thing..

I will do my best. My camera for gigs (can't always sneek my SLR in) isn't the greatest. I need to upgrade it. Yeah i think you are right. I was at the Weezer show in Sydney (they did one in Brisbane as well i think) and it was easily the worst GC show i have been to. It's not because they played Weezer's music, i love Weezer and the blue album. It was because of the way Joel and Benji were. Joel and Benji were drunk. Their words were so slurred you could hardly understand them. They couldn't put sentences together. Joel had the lyrics to Weezer songs on the ground and looked down the whole time. They didn't even play the whole album like they were meant to. If my memory is correct i think they did the first five blue album songs before they had to go have a break. I have never seen the guys need to take a break in the middle of a set. When they came back on stage they were a bit better. They didn't finish the blue album though, they just went into their own songs. I've been to enough GC shows to know they have drinks before shows but the twins were trashed. I don't think it helped that show was organized by Jack Daniels. I'm sure this show will be better. I will take as many photos as i can, as long as we aren't told to put our cameras away. I will probably sleep out so i will be on the barrier but it's at Luna Park which is right on Sydney Harbour so it will be freezing! Last time my two friends and i slept out there for GC it was so cold!

Wow, that sounds terrible. I saw them in august last year and you could see they weren't in shape there either. There wasn't any power in the performance, they didn't do any encore, and they did not meet the fans afterwards (it's not a big deal for me really, I don't think they have to do it, but it was weird since they almost always do it). But it sounds like it was twice as worse at the JD set! Wow..
Yeah, hopefully they will be excited to play again in a long time haha. Great! You have to sleep there to get barrier?! When I saw them in Sweden 2 years ago people could come 3 hours before the show and still get barrier! And isn't it always summer in Australia?

I think they just need to back off on the pre-drinks a little. You are right it is very strange for them to NOT meet fans afterwards. I couldn't stay around after the JD set so i have no idea if they met fans or not. I really hope they are back to the less drunk GC when i see them this time. I hate the JD set being the last time i saw them. Well not exactly. The earliest other people will get there is around 8am the day of the show and one or two turn up every hour or so after. There isn't enough to fill a barrier there until about 4 in the afternoon when a show starts around 7. Simple Plan in June i got there at 5am (because no one would camp out with me) and i would have had barrier. But there was 120+ SPCrew members that get put ahead of everyone else so getting there early was pointless. No we do have winter contrary to popular belief. We get really bad lightening storms. When i went to Billy Talent the other night it was so windy we were nearly getting blown away walking to the venue! We don't get snow (unless you live in the snowy mountains) but we have extremely cold days as well as boiling. September is the beginning of spring here so we are getting into warmer weather now.

I agree. I met a few people that had been following their EU tour last year and they said Joel always smelled strongly from alcohol when he came out to meet them, and that he was very off.
I see, I hate SP for doing the early entry thing... I'm so glad GC doesn't, and probably never will. I feel like GC respect fans that really try hard and wait outside to get frontrow and stuff. That's great!
Oh, when I hear "winter" I think of minus grades and snow haha!

When i got a hug off of Joel at this performance they did at a new bar called Rock Lily he smelt so strongly of alcohol. That night Benji wasn't as bad as Joel.
I hate it as well. Sure, let them have their meet and greet but i don't think anyone should get let in ahead of other fans that love the band just as much. I will join before they come back because that is not happening again. They do, they know that some of us sleep out the night before or are there in early hours and it wouldn't be fair to just let others in front. It's really lame when you hear SPCrew members who turn up at 4 in the afternoon say 'i deserve to be at the front'. You don't deserve it, technically you're paying them off to jump the line.
Haha well we will never have a white Christmas anyway because it's summer during Christmas here. While American schools have their summer break mid year and start school after the break Aussie schools have a 6 week summer break starting a few days before Christmas and they start school in February.

The only thing I can think is.. Doesn't he have his wife and children on tour sometimes? Should he really get that drunk in that case?
Exactly. They are like "I've payed for being in SPcrew for years, I deserve to be let in before everyone else". NO you don't.
Wow, I've heard about that, you have summer break around christmas, so weird!

Lately they are. That's why i was surprised when he was on the show The Voice he seemed to be sober sometimes and drunk at others and he had them with him living here during the shows filming. He was sober for ages and then the last few years he's back to it. Gotta admit though, when i talk to him sober or not he is always nice to me.
I really didn't want to join the club because i will catch up with the guys once or twice when they're in town without waiting around after gigs so i don't need meet and greets. The show last year only 50 something got let in and i didn't mind that but after 120+ at this years show i'm giving in. I will still sleep out or get there early because i love going to shows and waiting in line. I obviously have a high level of patience and no life haha.
It's not too bad, though i'd love to have a white Christmas i remember. We spend most of Christmas day in the pool. Then boxing day (i don't know if anyone else has boxing day, the day after Christmas) is a public holiday as well.
